On the 16th, the Canadian Battery Circular Economy Business Delegation visited POSCO Future M's Pohang Cathode Materials Plant.

The delegation, composed of representatives from the Canadian government and companies specializing in battery reuse and recycling technologies, is involved in projects to demonstrate these technologies and establish business partnerships in the global market.

The delegation included Tamara Mawhinney, Canadian Ambassador to Korea; John Zimmerman, Commercial Counselor at the Canadian Embassy in Korea; Derek Dubien, Director of Export Support at Global Affairs Canada; and about 30 other government and industry representatives.

During their visit, the delegation toured the Pohang cathode materials plant, which produces and supplies high-nickel NCMA and NCA cathode materials to the global market. They also discussed potential collaborations in technology and business.

Tamara Mawhinney, Canadian Ambassador to Korea, stated, “POSCO Future M is a leading company with exceptional business capabilities and technology, being the first Korean firm to enter the Canadian cathode materials market with the construction of the Ultium CAM plant. I look forward to continued exchanges and cooperation between the two countries to advance the battery industry.”

No Hoseop, Head of POSCO Future M’s Pohang Cathode Materials Division, commented, “We appreciate the Canadian government and industry’s efforts to foster related industries, supporting the national goals of promoting green energy adoption and electric vehicle expansion. We hope to further strengthen mutual cooperation to enhance competitiveness.”

Meanwhile, Canada has maintained ongoing collaboration with POSCO Future M. In October last year, a 10-member delegation from Quebec’s Energy Transition team visited the Pohang cathode materials plant to study on-site employee training practices and discuss ways to support and enhance POSCO Future M’s projects in Canada.
